Bio Chemical Notes
Niclosamide is used in the treatment of tapeworm and intestinal fluke infections. The exact mechanism of action is unknown, but it appears that Niclosamide uncouples oxidative phosphorylation in the scolex and proximal segments of the adult tapeworm and stimulates adenosine triphosphatase activity of mitochondria, resulting in death.
